SMEplace
The SMEplace.com is the meeting place for SMEs
Introduction & Explanation of SMEplace.com
As an integral part of the Asiatech III, SMEplace is the portal through which businesses around the world can meet each other.
International business development process has been slow to catch up with the growth in Internet facilities and the application tools that have evolved from the IT world. Major multinational corporations, which have paved the way particularly in the globalization of the world economy even before the Industrial Revolution, are the group that essentially pioneered the methods and strategy for development of world market.
For the millions of small and medium enterprises, SMEs, which comprise 99% of all companies in the world, on the other hand, to expand globally the way the major corporations do, remains costly and risky, as well as time consuming. That is why there are an increasing number of third party facilitators to whom many of the functions are outsourced, in order to reduce overhead.
For those who are engaged in export-import, the time tested approach has been very successful, and use of the Internet has been more extensive. But for those who are interested in other areas of international expansion, a paradigm shift may be called for.
The philosophy and concept of Asiatech III and its associated portal, www.SMEplace.com together precisely aim to do that.
The Portal has assembled in one place many tools to perform the following functions:
- Database. Building up a database of companies any where in the world interested in making international connections, or can be enticed to develop business internationally. An initial database consisting of more than 10 million companies with sales of $3 million or more will be available on the Portal.
- Search Engine. An internal search engine will allow an Asiatech III registrant to search free of charge in the Portal’s database for companies meeting their criteria, and if desired to follow up, search for a fee for a complete report that would include contact names and coordinates with e-mail, phone, websites, etc.
- Communication Center. With the consent of the selected contacts, a user can utilize the facilities of the Center to communicate with them. Facilities include VOIP, email, TM, virtual meeting, video conferencing, etc., for no fee or nominal fee.
- Credit Reports. Credit information on the prospective contacts may be obtained from the Portal, at a nominal fee.
- Document Management. Keep searchable record of interaction between members of the Portal, a repository of virtual meetings, memorandum of understanding, preliminary agreements or intents, voice and video recordings, and all related documents.
- Service Providers. Many Third party service providers, such as consultants, can be accessed within the Portal, such as translators. They can be invited to participate in virtual meetings.
- Resource Center. Information for doing business in key countries of interest will be available on the Portal.
- Blog & Forum. Discussion forum on subjects of interest to the members of the Portal and comments and ideas postings will be accommodated.
